Radiation Health & Safety Competency Assessment
UCONN School of Dental Medicine has developed a Radiation Health & Safety Competency Assessment Self Study Course, Materials and Exam. This meets the 2023 legislation, which allows a Dental Assistant in Connecticut to take dental x-rays if they pass either the national exam given by the Dental Assistant National Board’s (DANB) Radiation Health & Safety Examination or the radiation health and safety competency assessment administered by a dental education program in Connecticut that is accredited by the American Dental Association's Commission on Dental Accreditation.

Registration Process
- Registration for the Radiation Health and Safety Competency Assessment includes self-study material and self-assessment quizzes. So no need to obtain or pay for additional study materials.
- Registrants have 30 days from registration to take the exam.
- Registrants must pick a test date. The test will proctored virtually and an attestation form required.
- Various email reminders will be sent prior to the test date.
- Access to the exam will be provided 2 days prior to the test time.
- There are 50 questions to be completed in 60 minutes. Passing is 65%.
- UCONN School of Dental Medicine will send a letter of completion to the registrant.
