UCONN's School of Dental Medicine Infection Control Competency Assessment for Dental Assistants
UCONN's School of Dental Medicine Competency Assessment exam along with a self-study course meets the 2019 bill passed by Legislature requiring all Connecticut dental assistants to pass the Dental Assistant National Board’s (DANB) Infection Control Examination (ICE) or an Infection Control Competency Assessment administered by an institution accredited by the American Dental Association’s Commission on Dental Accreditation. All dental assistants must provide records demonstrating successful completion.
- If hired prior to July 1, 2019 Dental Assistants must successfully complete the DANB ICE or a Competency Assessment Exam by October 1, 2020.
- If hired after July 1, 2019 have fifteen months from the start of employment to receive on-the-job training by a licensed dentist to prepare for and pass the exam or assessment, if they have not done so already.
Registration Process
- Registration includes access to self-study material and self-assessment quizzes. So no need to obtain or pay for additional study materials.
- The test will be monitored virtually by a CSDA employee and an attestation form required. The next test date is November 23rd at 8am.
- Email verifications with additional information will be sent prior to the test date.
- There are 75 questions to be completed in 90 minutes. Passing is 65%.
- UCONN School of Dental Medicine will send a letter of completion to the registrant.
